Your Career, Your Path: Grow in Engineering and Beyond
Sonya's journey at Marvell is a powerful illustration of how engineers can carve out diverse career paths within the company. With a background in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Master’s in Engineering Management, Sonya started as a Microprocessor Design Engineer before transitioning into roles that bridged engineering and sales. She quickly realized that Marvell’s diverse ecosystem – from engineers to product managers and business leaders – offered unmatched opportunities for growth.
At Marvell, your technical expertise doesn’t just stay in the lab or behind the code. It propels you forward into roles that shape high-stakes customer relationships and industry-leading solutions. Whether you’re tackling innovative silicon solutions for data infrastructure, networking, or automotive markets, or working alongside top engineers and business leaders to solve complex technical problems, Marvell’s environment nurtures your career every step of the way.
Leading by example
As one of Marvell’s senior female leaders in sales, Sonya is motivated to inspire the next generation of women in tech. “It’s sometimes a matter of having role models and knowing there's a path.” The Americas sales team has seven women among the account managers, two of whom report directly to her. Sonya is also an Americas regional lead and on the Leadership Council for Women@Marvell, Marvell’s inclusion network for women. She also spearheads the Women’s Event at the biennial Marvell Worldwide Sales Conference for a crowd of both “super saleswomen” …and men.
Balancing the demands of the job
Outside of work, Sonya says she wouldn’t survive without trail running near her home base in Boulder, Colorado. She also enjoys backcountry skiing and hut trips with friends and traveling with her two kids.
