Design World recently announced their 2026 LEAP (Leadership in Engineering Achievement) Awards winners. The Marvell® 1.6T optical DSP platform portfolio has been honored in the connectivity category.

Marvell has decades of expertise in optical DSPs and ushered in the 1.6T era. The portfolio being honored was announced earlier this year and spans Ara T, Ara X, Aquila M and Petra.

• Ara T (demonstrated in this video from OFC) is the first 8x200G transmit-retimed optics (TRO) DSP. Designed for high-bandwidth, mid-length links spanning 5 to 500 meters, it can reduce optical power module consumption by more than 35%, reducing total cost of ownership in network deployments.
• Ara X is the first 1.6T DSP with advanced link reliability capabilities, enabling customers to achieve higher resilience for optical networks.
• As the first 3nm 8x100G to 4x200G gearbox, Petra enables high power efficiency and unlocks new, more flexible infrastructure designs.
• Aquila M—the first O-band-optimized, coherent-lite optical DSP with integrated media access control security (MACsec)—adds critical built-in security to next-generation optical links. The product builds on the expertise Marvell carries in coherent-lite DSPs and the original Aquila coherent-lite DSP that’s designed for scale-across applications.

The Ara T and Ara X products expand upon the award-winning original Ara product, which is the industry’s first 3nm, 1.6T PAM4 optical DSP. Earlier this year, Ara was named the Interconnect Product of the Year by Electronic Products and also earned the Leading EDGE award for outstanding design innovation.

Together, these latest four products underscore Marvell as a leader in 1.6T innovation. Marvell delivers the industry’s broadest portfolio of end-to-end connectivity platform solutions for scale-up, scale-out and scale-across AI infrastructure.
