Active electrical cables (AECs) effectively add an optical DSP to the terminal end of copper cables to amplify fine-tune signals. The Alaska® A series of AEC DSPs for active electrical cables addresses critical AI data center connectivity trends: the need for higher bandwidth short-reach interconnects to match increasing compute power and the shift from passive to active copper interconnects. The Alaska A series includes the industry’s first 1.6T AEC DSP. Alaska A products are built on Marvell® PAM4 technology deployed in every leading cloud data center.
The Alaska A AEC DSP series is designed for retimer functionality in active electrical cables (AEC). The Alaska A products are optimized for multiple short-reach copper interconnects within data center racks in the scale up domain, including AI accelerator-board connections, server to top-of-rack links and switch-to-switch links. With the ability to extend copper reach to over 3 meters at 200G I/O speeds, the Alaska A 1.6T is optimized for the next wave of large language model (LLM) infrastructure.
