The industry-leading OCTEON Fusion platform is designed for multi-sector macrocell base stations, microcell base stations, intelligent radio heads, and O-RAN-virtualized distributed units (DUs) with full O-RAN standards support. Providing low latency, high system capacity, and high per-user data rates – all necessary requirements for a 5G network – requires the densification of the radio access network (RAN) and the deployment of additional network nodes. As 5G radio networks increasingly use wider bandwidths, the demand for high throughput microcells with full macro cell capabilities has increased dramatically. And unlike solutions based on general purpose processors, OCTEON Fusion platforms are optimized to deliver best-in-class 5G capacity, power, cost, and time-to-market for integrated or open and virtualized RAN architectures. Leveraging carrier-proven silicon and comprehensive reference.
