Marvell has achieved an A-list ranking in the CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment for the 2024 reporting cycle. Reaching this first-time accomplishment recognizes the company’s efforts and leadership in climate targets, climate risk assessment and management, and engaging with suppliers on climate action and sustainability.
The CDP is the largest sustainability disclosure platform that evaluates how companies are doing in terms of climate action. Specifically, its Supplier Engagement module grades companies’ performance on sustainability governance and business strategy, climate targets, climate risk management processes and Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions which can result from activities outside of companies’ four walls like those from outsourced manufacturing suppliers.
This A-list distinction was earned by Marvell through introducing several key initiatives across the value chain. In 2024, the first company-wide science-based target was set and validated for the company’s direct (Scope 1 and Scope 2) and indirect (Scope 3) emissions in alignment with a 1.5°C climate scenario.
Marvell also incorporated climate-focused requirements into the supplier business reviews, along with regular, proactive supplier engagement around climate action planning. Each year, Marvell asks direct suppliers to disclose their greenhouse gas emissions and other climate-related data through CDP, helping the company evaluate the sustainability maturity across the supply chain. Marvell also hosts its Annual Supplier Day, bringing all suppliers together to update shared business strategies, improve management processes, evolve existing partnerships, and communicate sustainability requirements.
Marvell also collaborates with industry partners to collectively advance climate resilience across the semiconductor value chain through industry associations like the Responsible Business Alliance and the SEMI Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC).
Proactive supplier engagement on sustainability helps Marvell meet rising customer expectations and strengthens the ability to drive meaningful climate action across the value chain.
