Las Vegas, Nevada (May 3, 2005) – arvell® (NASDAQ: MRVL), the technology leader in the development of extreme broadband communications and storage solutions, today announced the availability of multilayer wireless/wireline integrated packet processor solutions for the FE market. The Prestera 98DX107 provides a new generation of solutions for the sweet-spot of stackable 24FE and 48FE multilayer switches. The security, wirespeed bridging and IPv4/IPv6 routing, and stackable features offered by the 98DX107 raise the bar on the FE market space. Marvell will present 98DX107 in booth # 939 at Network Interop 2005 in Las Vegas, May 3 - 5.
Existing FE processors can easily become obsolete by the new deployments of Access Points, IPv6 capabilities, and the need to mix and match GE and FE products. With 98DX107 these requirements are supported and Marvell has cost optimized high-end GE features for the FE market. 98DX107 enhances FE customer designs with a completely integrated solution that combines software components, driver suites and customization capabilities, including the ability to customize system features in the best price performance segment. The enhancements offered to the customers have proven to reduce time to market by 50 percent, while maintaining riskless and predictable execution.
The Distributed Switching Architecture (DSA) is extensively utilized in the FE products allowing the stacking of 24FE and 48FE devices as well as tying all GE and FE products to one, managed enterprise deployment. DSA allows all multilayer and security features to be distributed over FE and GE devices, therefore equipping the enterprise with consistent deployment.
“Our customers are faced with the challenge of how to reduce costs, while still equipping FE solutions with wireless/wireline integration, security and multilayer features,” said Paul Valentine, General Manager, Enterprise Business Unit, Communications Business Group at Marvell. “With 98DX107 we have overcome these problems by combining multi-disciplinary technologies and the modular design of the DX family, to offer next-generation of solutions that raise the bar on the FE space.”
The Prestera architecture, Marvell's sixth generation of switching products, enables system manufacturers to build families of products that address the need for high-density, feature-rich FE and Gigabit applications in the SMB, Enterprise and MAN markets.
The Marvell 98DX107 is currently shipping.
