Marvell Continues 4G LTE Leadership with the Launch of Yulong Coolpad's High-Performance Smartphone Certified by China Mobile

Marvell's 4G LTE modem solution enables the production of Yulong Coolpad's 8736 smartphone and is among the first 4G LTE smartphones certified by China Mobile

Santa Clara, California (December 2, 2013) – Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL) today announced the continuation of its 4G LTE leadership with the launch of Yulong Coolpad's high-performance smartphone certified by China Mobile. Marvell’s 4G LTE modem solution enables the production of Yulong Coolopad's 8736 smartphone and is among the first 4G LTE smartphones certified by China Mobile. Marvell has been a leading provider of advanced Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) technology for China Mobile and now delivers its latest Time Division Long-term Evolution (TD-LTE) solution, with its ARMADA® PXA1802 platform. Marvell’s power efficient dual link solution helps China Mobile migrate its service from 3G to 4G LTE with minimal impact to its network infrastructure. Yulong’s first China Mobile-certified 4G LTE smartphone, the Yulong Coolpad 8736 based on Marvell's solution, caters to mass-market consumers and now shipping to China Mobile's subscribers.

From making the world's first voice over TD-LTE call to completing carrier certification in the largest mobile operators in North America and Asia, Marvell has been an integral part in the increased development of China’s 4G LTE and rapid growth of the smartphone market in China. The Yulong Coolpad 8736 features Marvell’s ARMADA PXA1802 modem+ PMIC components, as well as the Marvell’s 88rf838 TD transceiver. It also features a 5.0-inch 720P LCD, 4GB EMMC + 1GB DDR, an 8M back camera + 0.3M front camera and the Android 4.2 operating system.
