Marvell CEO Dr. Sehat Sutardja Receives Indonesian Diaspora Lifetime Achievement Award for Global Pioneering and Innovation

Award presented at historic inaugural Congress of Indonesian Diaspora, which taps into Diaspora’s potential to shape the Country’s progress and effect change for the better

Santa Clara, California (July 9, 2012) – Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL) today announced its chairman, president, chief executive officer and co-founder, Dr. Sehat Sutardja, was given the Indonesian Diaspora Lifetime Achievement Award for Global Pioneering and Innovation at the first-ever Congress of Indonesian Diaspora, being held July 6 – 8 in Los Angeles. The award, presented by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, recognizes Dr. Sutardja’s achievements in advancing technology through innovation in engineering, driving adoption of technology into new markets and evangelizing the use of the latest technology in developing nations that will greatly impact the future.

Dr. Sutardja was the natural selection for the inaugural Indonesian Diaspora Lifetime Achievement Award for Global Pioneering and Innovation; his accomplishments exemplify what can be achieved with a relentless, innovative drive and he is a key advisor around technology’s pivotal role in the next phase of Indonesia’s development.”


Dr. Sutardja, born and raised in Jakarta, is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the modern semiconductor age. With more than 260 patents in his name, Sutardja’s breakthrough designs and guiding vision have revolutionized the semiconductor industry and enabled landmark devices for markets ranging from data storage to mobile. He has also leveraged his technology acumen and relationships with world leaders to expand access to technology for developing nations.

Dr. Sutardja and his wife, Weili Dai, are very successful business partners who have co-founded Marvell Technology Group Ltd. together. Today, Marvell is one of the top five fabless semiconductor companies in the world. They’re also very proud parents of two sons who are Electrical Engineering graduate students at UC Berkeley; Christopher and Nicholas are currently Ph.D candidates.

The Congress of Indonesian Diaspora, being held July 6 - 8 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, is the first global meeting of the Indonesian Diaspora. The event is designed to: inspire Indonesian Diaspora communities to connect and to unite to create a tangible force in order to achieve a better Indonesia; foster and implement concrete initiatives to empower Indonesian communities in the U.S. to support Indonesia’s economy, social and political progress; and strengthen U.S.-Indonesian ties.
