Marvell Breaks New Ground for Smartphones and Tablets: High Performance, Gigahertz-Class, Scalable Mobile Platforms Delivering 1080p Full-HD Encode and Decode, Advanced 3D Graphics and Ultra Low-Power Supporting Full Adobe Flash, Android, Windows Mobile, and Other Leading Operating Systems

Mobile World Congress - Barcelona (February 16, 2010) – Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL), a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced a vanguard of new platform solutions designed to easily scale from smartphones to high-performance tablets and other advanced mobile devices. Marvell's new platforms are the first of their kind to offer gigahertz-class processor speed, 1080p full-HD encode and decode, 3D mobile gaming and support for full Adobe Flash, Android™, Windows Mobile, and other leading operating systems.

At Mobile World Congress this week, Marvell is showcasing new members from its ARMADA™, Avastar™ and Pantheon™ families calibrated for mobile computing. Gigahertz-class, Single Chip Application Processor With Integrated 1080p, Full-HD and 3D Engine Rendering 45 Million Triangles Per Second:  The ARMADA 618 application processor delivers gigahertz-class speed, integrated 1080p full-HD encode and decode, and exceptional 3D graphics. The platforms consume extremely low power while maintaining high processing performance at attractive price points for manufacturers — all in lightweight form factors with extended battery life that consumers are looking for in their smartphones and tablets. The platforms also feature an integrated 3D engine that renders 45 million triangles per second for an immersive gameplay experience.

High Performance, Gigahertz-class Scalable Mobile Platforms:  Marvell's high performance, gigahertz processing, scalable Pantheon mobile platform for smartphones and tablets provide breakthrough levels of integration to significantly lower the bill of materials for mobile device manufacturers while offering superior performance and connectivity. With Marvell's advanced modem technology, seamless wireless connectivity and application processing for next generation cellular services – the new Pantheon-powered smartphones or tablets can offer higher performance for Internet browsing, instant live HD quality video, high performance 3D mobile gaming, extended music playback; and other popular handset applications; and ultra low-power for long battery life at mass market price points. The Pantheon platform supports full Adobe Flash, Android, Windows Mobile and other major open operating systems (OS).

Complementary Wireless Technology Leadership: Marvell is demonstrating its 802.11n enabled Marvell Mobile Hotspot, a groundbreaking technology designed to transform any consumer electronic device with an Internet connection into a wireless access point connecting up to eight clients while delivering data rates up to 150 Mbps. With the Marvell Mobile Hotspot, devices such as smartphones, digital cameras, personal media players, and personal navigation devices can now operate as full featured Wi-Fi access points. In addition, Marvell is also showcasing its new family of wireless devices delivering best-in-class multifunction radios — built from the ground-up and intended to outperform all standalone options for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM, and GPS products across metrics including high performance, ultra low-power and tiny size, the new wireless devices enable manufacturers to create more reliable, affordable, thinner, and sleeker mobile products.

SSD-Class Storage Solution for Mobile Devices: As a leader in the global storage market, Marvell is demonstrating its latest mobile storage solution, embedded MMC (eMMC). Marvell combined its expertise for solid state drive (SSD) with communication solutions to offer eMMC, a smaller form of SSD, dedicated to mobile devices. eMMC features high performance, reliability, and high security functions that manufacturers require for embedded applications.
