Marvell Award-Winning Qdeo Video Processing Powers Meridian's 810 Reference Video System

Marvell 88DE2710 powers new 10 megapixel projector, delivering consistently high-quality HD viewing for the ultimate luxury home-theater experience

Santa Clara, California (July 30, 2008) – a target="_self" href="http://www.marvell.com">Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), a leader in storage, communications and consumer silicon solutions, today announced that its 88DE2710 digital video format converter with Qdeo™ video processing (http://www.ClearlyQdeo.com) is a featured component of the Meridian 810 Reference Video System. The new digital video projection system offers high quality and true-to-life reproduction of images and furthers the integration of Marvell technology into the consumer electronics marketplace.

The Meridian 810 Reference Video System is comprised of two elements: a D-ILA-base digital projector offering 10 megapixels and a video scaler designed to optimize the imaging of high-definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) inputs. Marvell's Qdeo technology is used in the most exclusive, highest-performing consumer video products, and this latest partnership with Meridian reaffirms Qdeo as a leading video technology in the market today.

Bob Stuart, chairman and co-founder of Meridian Audio Ltd. stated, "We felt it was essential to combine what we believe is the gold standard in video processing with our gold standard in audio to complete the Meridian Digital Theatre. We are thrilled to partner with performance leader, Marvell, and its Qdeo technology, to build our 810 Reference Video System. Marvell's Qdeo suite provides unsurpassed video quality and realism, which was essential for the 810 Reference Video System."

At the core of the Marvell® 88DE2710 digital video format converter, Qdeo delivers rich, high-definition video quality through a suite of advanced technologies, providing quiet and natural video, free of noise and artifacts. Per-pixel noise and compression artifact reduction removes noise typically inherent in digital video. Per-pixel motion-adaptive 3-D de-interlacing removes jaggies and eliminates feathering. Adaptive Contrast Enhancement (ACE) and Intelligent Color Remapping (ICR) render rich and vivid images. The unique adaptivity of award-winning Qdeo processing allows it to serve a very broad range of applications spanning from low-resolution internet video to pristine 4K x 2K.

"Meridian's 810 Reference Video System is believed to give consumers the most realistic home-theater performance in the world," said Dr. Nikhil Balram, vice president and general manager of the Digital Entertainment Business Unit, Communications and Consumer Business Group at Marvell. "With our Qdeo technology built into the Meridian 810 Reference Video System, this projector is intended to deliver superior quality video that is vivid, quiet, and free of distractions so the viewer can be fully immersed in the home theater experience. We are proud to align with Meridian to bring such a premium innovation to market."

The Meridian 810 Reference Video System featuring Qdeo will be available in limited quantities by the end of Q3, and fully available by the end of 2008.
