Marvell Announces Interoperability with Aeluros 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ Based Solutions

Combined 10 Gigabit Ethernet Switching Platform Provides Turnkey Solution for Emerging SFP+ Designs

Las Vegas, Nevada (May 22, 2007) – arvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), the leader in storage, communications and consumer silicon solutions, today announced successful interoperability between the Marvell® Prestera® family of 10 GbE switches and Aeluros AEL2005 EDC (electronic dispersion compensation)/SERDES (serializer/deserializer) devices. The interoperability test bed was the Marvell DB-DX273-24G-3XG reference platform, and tests were conducted in Marvell testing facilities. The joint Marvell/Aeluros solution provides a robust platform, addressing the architectural requirements of 10GbE switching systems based on the emerging SFP+ optical front end.

“Interoperability between our leading Prestera switch platform and the Aeluros EDC device ensures a comprehensive 10 GbE solution for emerging SFP+ based products that will enable high-performance, more cost-effective designs,” stated Simon Milner, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Business Unit, Communications and Consumer Business Group at Marvell.

“Our low-power integrated EDC/SERDES AEL2005 device has already completed a comprehensive set of tests including IEE802.3aq defined CSRS testing, overload testing, over-temp testing, and finally interoperability testing with various SFP+ modules,” said Stefanos Sidiropoulos, chief executive officer and co-founder, Aeluros. “With the latest interoperability successes with Marvell’s Prestera platform, we can now jointly offer a comprehensive solution for SFP+ based platforms.”

The Marvell Prestera family of switching solutions is designed specifically to meet the demands of high-performance networks, and provide the reliability and resiliency necessary for business continuity. In addition, Prestera solutions provide advanced security to protect data, network users, and the network infrastructure, as well as robust quality of service (QoS) for IP applications including voice, video, and mission critical data services. Having introduced the industry’s first mass-deployed Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet merchant switch controllers, Marvell continues to enable industry-wide interoperability and sets the standard for innovation in switching solutions.
