Hisense Launches High Performance and Affordable TD-LTE Smartphone Powered by Marvell for China’s Mass Mobile Market

Marvell continues to lead the 4G LTE market with the latest Hisense X8T smartphone featuring Marvell’s industry leading ARMADA Mobile quad-core PXA1088 LTE single-chip solution

Santa Clara, California (February 18, 2014) – Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL) a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced that Hisense, a leading Chinese electronics manufacturer,  launched the 4G X8T LTE smartphone for the 1,000 RMB (approx U.S. $165) LTE market in China. Hisense’s latest smartphone is well positioned to support China Mobile’s projected 100 million 4G LTE smart phone market in 2014.  Hisense X8T features Marvell’s ARMADA® Mobile PXA1088 LTE single-chip solution, Marvell’s advanced Avastar® 88W8777 (Wi-Fi/BT 4.0/FM), 88RF838 and 88RF858 (RF), 88L1000 (GPS) and PM820 (audio/power management).

Marvell’s high performance, single-chip solution features a quad-core ARM Cortex A7 processor with high performance graphics integrated with field-proven cellular modems supporting LTE TDD and FDD, High Speed Packet Access Plus (HSPA+), Time division High Speed Packet Access Plus (TD-HSPA+), Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) and Enhanced Data for GSM Environment (EDGE). The PXA1088LTE incorporates high performance graphics together with Marvell’s advanced Avastar 88W8777 wireless connectivity, including WLAN + Bluetooth 4.0 + FM single-chip SoC, the L2000 GNSS Hybrid Location Processor, an integrated power management unit with audio codec IC, and 88RF858 high-performance multimode LTE transceiver.

The Marvell PXA1088LTE combines Marvell’s leading silicon and cellular modem expertise to enable the design of high-performance, low-power smartphone and tablet devices that can be used and supported with configurations for TDD-LTE (Time Division Duplex Long Term Evolution), FDD-LTE (Frequency Division Duplex Long Term Evolution), TD-SCDMA, WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) and EGPRS (Enhanced GPRS).  This multimode LTE chipset supports next generation LTE standards with Category 4 throughputs of up to 150 Mbps DL (Down Link) and 50 Mbps UL (Up Link) and Release 8 TD-SCDMA HSPA+.
