The Project Ara modular smartphone platform is designed to lower barriers to entry, increase the talent pool for hardware developers and significantly compress hardware development and new technology insertion time scales.

First launched in early 2014, the Marvell ARMADA Mobile PXA1928 is a 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 running at 1.5GHz with Marvell’s mature and field-proven 5-mode modem technology to provide a cost effective Linux and Android mobile platform. It supports 2G/3G/4G communications and enables an enhanced end-user experience for multimedia and gaming applications with universal connectivity. It supports all global mobile broadband standards, including LTE TDD/FDD, HSPA+, TD-HSPA+ and EDGE.
