Making positive contributions in the communities where we work and live
We are proud to support organizations that combat hunger and poverty.
Since 2008, Marvell has partnered with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, one of the nation’s largest food banks, which is committed to providing local residents (many of them seniors), with daily healthy meals. As a premier partner, Marvell has supported Second Harvest with funds for their holiday food donations as well as volunteer programs, various food drives, and other initiatives.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and the Marvell cafeteria was closed due to the quarantine, Marvell donated over $1M to Second Harvest.
"As long as our Santa Clara campus remains on minimum basic operations with employees working from home, we wanted to come up with an impactful way keep money flowing in to the local economy while supporting those who need it most right now," Marvell CEO Matt Murphy said. "Continuing to pay our cafeteria workers and support staff a full wage while donating the grocery budget to the local food bank just felt like the right thing to do.”
Partnering with Second Harvest is also a great way to promote volunteerism at Marvell, where employees each year help deliver hot meals and gather, sort, and distribute donated food items to the community.
Marvell also participates in the annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot in San Jose, California. Our sponsorship includes the “Fittest Firm” competition, race registration fees for Marvell employees and a guest. Marvell employees secured the Fittest Firm victory for the fifth consecutive year in 2020. The proceeds from which benefit local charitable organizations including Healthier Kids Foundation Santa Clara County, Housing Trust Silicon Valley, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County, and The Health Trust.
We promote STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs for underrepresented groups—especially youth, girls, and women—with a focus on ensuring that the next generation of innovators is diverse and inclusive. Marvell is also a proud supporter of the Tech Interactive in San Jose, California, and a sponsor of the annual Tech Challenge and the Girls @ The Tech.
Marvell gives back to the communities in which we work and live. We work with the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), an organization dedicated to providing opportunities and support to people with physical challenges. Marvell also sponsors the CAF Northern California Celebration of Heart, a gala held at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art which supports the CAF by providing volunteer opportunities for employees and raising awareness. CAF athletes participate in the annual Marvell 5K fun run, too!
Marvell also supports Rebuilding Together, a non-profit organization that helps people and communities in need by bringing together a national network of local Rebuilding Together affiliates, corporate and individual donors, skilled trades individuals and almost 100,000 volunteers each year. Marvell sponsors National Rebuilding Day, where the largest nationwide group of volunteers come together each year to rehabilitate homes and community facilities and revitalize Peninsula communities.
At Marvell, we are proud of our employees’ passion for giving back and making a difference in their communities. To encourage them, we help connect them to many charitable organizations. Our employees have a long history of taking on global challenges and meeting community needs, whether through a food drive, a holiday giving program, or by donating their time volunteering or sharing their expertise. A more comprehensive global Volunteer Time Off Program is set to launch in 2022.
In order to demonstrate our commitment to supporting diversity, equal rights, and racial justice in our communities, Marvell donated to Color of Change and to the Equal Justice Initiative. We also added these two organizations to the Company Match Program along with Campaign Zero, Know Your Rights Camp, and the Center for Policing Equity whose mission is to fight racism and discrimination in our communities.
