Santa Clara, California (November 12, 2009) – arvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), a world leader in storage, communications, and consumer silicon solutions, today announced that Popular Science has selected the Marvell® SheevaPlug™ platform as one of the 100 most innovative products of 2009, with its "Best of What's New" award in the Computing category. The SheevaPlug was selected for its compact yet powerful form factor. The Plug Computer platform gives developers unlimited opportunity to create applications, services, and functionality to serve consumers and all classes of business.

"For 22 years, Popular Science has honored the innovations that surprise and amaze us—those that make a positive impact on our world today and challenge our views of what's possible in the future," said Mark Jannot, Editor-in-Chief of Popular Science. "The Best of What's New Award is the magazine's top honor, and the 100 winners—chosen from among thousands of entrants—represent the highest level of achievement in their fields."

"We are thrilled to be recognized by the editors at Popular Science," said Dr. Simon Milner, Vice President and General Manager of the Enterprise Business Unit, Consumer and Communications Business Group at Marvell Semiconductor. "The SheevaPlug is sparking a revolution in computing and application development. Developers today are creating everything from data analysis programs, media management, home and office automation systems on the SheevaPlug platform — a palm-sized, always-on, easily-accessed platform that uses less than two watts of power."

SheevaPlug supports almost limitless applications. A Plug Computer is small enough to plug directly into a wall socket and is designed to draw so little power that it can be left on all of the time. Therefore, it makes high-performance, always connected, and environmentally friendly computing readily available for developers and end-users. The Plug Computer ecosystem is rapidly expanding to include a full value chain of product partners, application developers and educational institutions.
