Marvell and Fuji Electric Hi-Tech Advance Power Management Development for Digital Equipment Manufacturers

Sunnyvale, California (April 13, 2005) – arvell® (NASDAQ: MRVL), the technology leader in the development of extreme broadband communications and storage solutions, announced today its partnership with Fuji Electric Hi-Tech to develop and market point-of-load (POL) products for digital equipment like computers, networks and consumer electronics products.

As consumers and businesses demand increased functionality in their digital devices, the systems become more complex, dense and more power hungry.  Power must move closer to where it will be consumed and must meet the differing demands of the various integrated circuits. Using Marvell’s most advanced POL power management chips and Fuji’s system design, manufacturing know-how and customer service, the two companies will develop and market best-of-breed power management solutions that boost power to different integrated circuits, reduce the space requirements and improve product design and usage.

The Marvell DSP Switcher™ module family of products is the industry’s highest-performance step-down DC-DC power modules.  They are suitable for a wide range of point-of-load (POL) applications while unparalleled precision, efficiency, transient response and small size make these modules attractive for demanding loads. These DSP-control products are superior in compactness and space-saving size at less than half that of analog-control products, and they have remarkable performance with the high efficiency needed to supply power with low noise.

“Our relationship with Fuji increases our ability to address the unique needs of the Japanese market as they seek best-of-breed solutions that ease integration and interoperability challenges,” said Hubie Notohamiprodjo, Marvell Director, New Product Development.  “We are honored that Fuji has turned to Marvell.  Together, we can provide the solutions that bring unprecedented gains in system performance to today’s demanding digital equipment products.”

“For Fuji, the choice of Marvell and the timing of this partnership are ideal as Japanese companies speed the pace of their product capabilities and, therefore, their power requirements,” said Mr. Shinji Arai, Director, Fuji Electric Hi-Tech.  “We have enjoyed an active relationship with Marvell for years, and this step strengthens our working relationship, product development and go-to-market speed.”

Marvell is the industry leader in power management solutions that yield the industry’s smallest and lowest height profile solutions, reducing system complexity and design engineering efforts, while freeing more footprint for system features and functions.
